Message issue with "John" is that he doesn't really care about this argument.

He is a member of AMS.
If he is not in direct employment, his is a spokesman, endorser and rolling advertisement for them. His Z is regularly the AMS "de facto" shop car @ these events.

There is no point in trying to logic or reason - there is no "convincing" or "opening of eyes" to he had here.

John plays the "I'm a nice guy card" here and the doe-y wide-eyed innocent. He is fully aware of how the AMS model works and he clearly benefits from it - in kind and service at the very least.

I for one find the whole act disingenuous.

To me it's clear where John stands on this issue, and that's fine. I just hope he doesn't think that others will continue to try and "help" him discover the truth or make up his mind.

... and for the record I had a AMS front strut tower bar on my 2+2 for about 6 months. It fit like crap. It dug into my hood and damaged my upper fuel hard line. I took it off when I realized the damage that it was doing.

I'm tired of being called a liar by a group of "certified" cons.
I'm waiting for that day that the Z32 is no longer a profitable car for AMS so they will move on and sell their repackaged Chinese parts elsewhere. ZCon has been going on for more then 20 years - AMS has only been a sponsor in the last few years, they are not the only source of sponsorship for the event. Additionally if you consider that sponsor "status" is based on the market "value" AND monetary donations - its not hard to see that AMS manifolds which are "valued" @ ~$700 based on MSP price point but in reality are just $75 Chinese boat anchors as seen by the flood of "unauthorized" eBay cast manifolds which bare the AMS casting - the AMS "contribution" is highly over estimated.

I don't need to be talked down to by people hiding behind team uniforms, layers of attitude and false airs of industry credibility that post pages of mumbo jumbo in order to "disprove" that their parts have no quality control process and that "built to AMS specs" really just means:
copied, painted black w. AMS logo applied

By example AMS admits they based their pulley on the PEX product.

Has anyone @ AMS ever spoken w. Greg @ PEX?
Have they ever given him design / materials / or fitment feedback? No - they just took that product and ran with it and make hundreds of copies and ran it to market - so quickly they for all their claims of engineering and ISO9001 standards and whatever else they didn't notice a simple offset issue in the original product and in their copies.

The PEX pulley was designed by Greg Pecks in Australia for his own Z. He designed it in his garage. His initial production run was 10 units for a group of folks on a Australian Z32 forum.
He is not a mechanic or even really a shade tree one - he owns a (gasp) computer business.
